Narrative

Sam Houston State University (SHSU) represents itself accurately to all U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting agencies with which it holds accreditation and is consistent in the way it describes itself with regard to purpose, governance, programs, degrees, diplomas, certificates, personnel, finances, and constituencies. Furthermore, SHSU keeps these accrediting agencies apprised of any changes of accreditation status. Provided in the table below is a list of U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting bodies and the respective programs they accredit at SHSU, along with the date of the most recent review and copies of statements used to describe the institution to the accreditor.

All accreditations held by the institution and its programs are reported to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Liaison within the Office of Academic Planning and Assessment. A comprehensive list of University and program accreditations [1] are noted on the accreditations webpage and are updated as changes occur. In addition, as part of the institution’s annual catalog revision process, the list of University and program accreditations are reviewed, verified, and updated as necessary.

SHSU has not had an accreditation terminated, nor has any negative action been taken by the accrediting agencies against SHSU programs.
