  • Although I have a doctorate in educational research from University of Houston in 1969, I count my MPH degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health in 1979 as my last (terminal) degree. I had courses in medical anthropology and sociology there; my master's thesis was on dietary information related to lowering cholesterol and cardiovascular disease risk. Prior to that, I had completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Research in Medical Education at the USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles in 1971. I'm presently in my 46th year of teaching at Baylor College of Medicine, the last 32 years in geriatrics where I'm a full professor of medicine associated with the Huffington Center on Aging.
